Bullpadel calls the Vertex its best-selling frame, so every update arrives with expectations attached. The Vertex 05 2027 is the version Juan Tello takes into the new season: a diamond head built to finish points, but with the balance kept low enough that you are not abandoned when the ball comes back at your feet. Bullpadel positions it as the all-round option of its Pro Line rather than a pure power stick.

Player Profile

This is a racket for players who already have a repeatable swing and spend most of the match trying to take the net. It suits the club competitor who attacks with the bandeja, closes points from mid-court and wants the frame to add weight to the ball rather than absorb it. Arm strength matters: 365–375 g with mass sitting high asks something of the shoulder over two or three sets.

It is not the right first step into a high-end frame. Beginners, players rebuilding technique, and those who play almost entirely from the back wall will find it demanding – the hitting window is decent for a diamond, but it still punishes a late or short swing. If your elbow or shoulder has given you trouble, look at the softer Comfort and W builds in the same family instead.

On-Court Performance

Defence.
Better than the diamond shape suggests. Keeping the balance around 25.5 cm rather than pushing it to 26–27 cm means the head comes round in time for a quick exchange or a low ball off the glass. It is still not a defensive racket: the mass up top makes a rushed lob harder to control than on a hybrid or round frame, and contact away from the centre loses noticeably more ball than it would on a control model.

Volley.
The clearest strength. Firmness plus the high mass means a short, committed punch sends the ball deep and heavy, which makes it awkward for the opposition to block back. Stability on hard, fast balls is good and the frame stays quiet on impact. Soft-handed drop volleys are harder work – this is a frame that rewards intent more than touch.

Bandeja & víbora.
The rough surface is the headline here. The ball grips the face long enough to work spin without forcing the swing, so bandejas land deep and consistent and the víbora gets a genuine bite and a low kick. Bullpadel has added more grain to the top layer of the face for 2027 and claims it holds its texture longer. Worth being realistic: every rough surface loses bite with heavy use, and this one will too.

Smash.
Energy transfer is direct and the flat smash comes out fast and low. Clean technique gets the ball over the fence or off the side glass; poor technique gets a fast ball into the net, because the frame gives very little help on a mistimed swing. It is powerful without being the most brutal thing Bullpadel makes – the Hack and XPLO families hit harder and forgive less.

Improvements & Upgrades

The Vertex nameplate carried over from the previous season, so this is a refinement rather than a clean-sheet redesign. The substantive change is inside the heart: the bridge now uses a double diagonal structure with a more triangular geometry, which Bullpadel says spreads impact forces more evenly across the edges of the frame and cuts twisting on off-centre contact. The Curv:aKtiv frame geometry has also been reworked, with the planes angled further to add torsional stiffness.

Against the Vertex 04 that preceded this generation the gap is wider – the current mould gives a more usable hitting window and a rougher, more aggressive face texture, and the balance sits a touch lower, which makes it easier to live with in defence.

Being straight about it: if you already own the previous Vertex 05, this is an evolution, not a transformation. The gains are in stability and feel at the edges of the face, not in outright power. The wider change for 2027 is choice – the family now runs from a hybrid control build through to a geometric attacking head, so the shape can be matched to your game rather than the other way round.
